Northwest Axle Spindle provides professional spindle inspection, fitment verification, replacement, welding, and axle repair for commercial trucks and trailers. We source application-specific replacement components from established manufacturers, including Axle Spindle Inc.
Every axle must be inspected and measured before a replacement component is selected. Vehicle make and model alone are not enough to confirm spindle fitment.
Truck Applications

Inspection Guidance
When Should a Truck Spindle Be Inspected?
Grinding, Squealing or Clunking
Noise from the wheel end during driving, turning, or braking can indicate bearing damage or wear on the spindle’s bearing surfaces.
Wheel Vibration or Excessive Hub Movement
A worn bearing journal can allow the hub to move on the spindle. If correct bearings do not eliminate the movement, the spindle and hub assembly require further inspection.
Excessive Wheel-End Heat
Abnormal heat can result from lubrication problems, bearing damage, incorrect bearing adjustment, or a damaged spindle surface.
Handling or Tire-Wear Problems
A bent or damaged spindle may affect wheel alignment, tire wear, vehicle tracking, and overall handling.
Visible Bending or Cracking
A visibly bent or cracked spindle is a serious structural concern. The unit should not be returned to service until the axle and spindle have been professionally inspected.
Replacing bearings or seals without identifying the underlying spindle damage can lead to repeat wheel-end failure.
Trailer Applications
Trailer Replacement Spindles
Northwest Axle Spindle services semi-trailers, commercial trailers, equipment trailers, cargo trailers, utility trailers, and selected specialty axle systems. Available component ranges include parallel, tapered, SAF Holland, utility-trailer, and lift-axle spindles.
Semi-Trailer Parallel Spindles
Parallel spindles, sometimes called straight spindles, use matching inner and outer bearing sizes. Available component ranges include 75, 85, and 115 series configurations for axle tubes generally measuring between 5 inches and 5¾ inches in outside diameter.

Inspection Guidance
When Should a Trailer Spindle Be Inspected?
Wheel Wobble or Vibration
Excessive hub movement may indicate wear on the spindle’s bearing journals, damaged bearings, an incorrectly adjusted wheel end, or damage to the hub.
Scoring, Pitting or Corrosion
Roughness, grooves, pitting, heat discolouration, or corrosion on a bearing surface can prevent the bearing from fitting and operating correctly.
Repeated Wheel-Seal Failure
A seal that repeatedly leaks at the same wheel end may indicate a worn, damaged, or out-of-round seal surface.
Bent or Cracked Spindle
Impact damage, bearing failure, overheating, or wheel separation can bend or crack a spindle. The complete axle and wheel end must be inspected before determining whether spindle replacement is appropriate.
Brake & Suspension Components
Trailer Brake and Suspension Components
Northwest can inspect, source, and install selected axle-end, brake, and suspension components during spindle and axle repair.
Trailer Brake Spider Plates
The spider plate provides the structural mounting point for the trailer brake shoes, S-cam components, bushings, and anchor pins. Replacement plates are available in two brake configurations: 4707 and 4710. Correct fitment must be confirmed by inspecting the existing brake setup, S-cam configuration and axle-tube measurements.
Cracks in the plate or housing
Elongated anchor-pin holes
Excessive S-cam bushing-bore wear
Loose anchor pins
Brake-shoe misalignment
Corrosion or structural deterioration
Common axle-tube outside diameters include 5 inches and 5¾ inches. Axle-tube OD is a separate measurement and does not identify the brake configuration by itself — a 5-inch or 5¾-inch axle tube does not determine whether the brakes use a 4707 or 4710 configuration.

Brake-spider configuration
4707 brake configuration or 4710 brake configuration, identified from the existing brake setup and S-cam configuration
Supporting fitment measurement
Axle-tube outside diameter, commonly 5 inches or 5¾ inches. This measurement is separate from the brake configuration and does not identify it.
Fitment warning
Cracks, elongated anchor-pin holes, worn S-cam bushing bores, loose anchor pins, brake-shoe misalignment or corrosion must be assessed before replacement.

Fitment Information
Why Accurate Measurements and Fitment Matter
A commercial axle operates under substantial weight, heat, braking force, and vibration. A spindle, sleeve, bearing, seal, or spider plate that does not match the axle can cause poor bearing fit, seal leaks, wheel-end movement, brake misalignment, accelerated wear, and possible component failure.
Never select a replacement spindle using the truck or trailer model alone.
